New to Sweat365 and new to running

I’m 52 and I want to be fit and healthy. Started Saturday with 20 minutes on my precor elliptical trainer. Did 33 minutes on Sunday.

Today I’m going to a running/triathlon store for new shoes, pedometer, and heart rate monitor. I’m also going to join their training group to train for the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon/Half Marathon.

I’m going to train for the half marathon.

Likely obstacles for me are the south Texas heat and my dislike of sunscreen. But I know I can’t train for a half marathon on an elliptical.

Motivators are getting outdoors in spite of heat and sunscreen and training with other people who may become friends. Also getting down to a healthy weight, having more energy, and feeling better.
